Steve is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.  He also has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter and a Chartered Financial Consultant.

Steve grew up in central Iowa near Ames. His business background began as a high school teacher and coach. He began his insurance career in 1978 with Life Investors/Aegon in Waterloo. He spent a total of three years as a producer and 10 years in corporate sales management positions prior to becoming President of Aegon's largest independent marketing company in Portland, Oregon. In 1994 he returned to Cedar Rapids as Vice President in charge of insurance agencies for Aegon.

In 1997, Steve became Chief Operating Officer for an independent financial services firm.  By January 2000, he had assumed this role with three separate firms.  By September of 2000, the Principals of the three firms made the decision to merge to create TrueNorth® Companies, LLC.  Steve became the Chief Sales Officer & Vice President for TrueNorth growing the firm from 98 employees and under $10 million in revenue at the time of merger to approximately 165 employees and $30 million in commission revenues.

In 2009, Steve became an independent consultant and coach for Sitkins International.  Steve has been involved in maximizing sales production and providing coaching for producers and sales units in various businesses. His mission is "Maximizing People's Performance", with his purpose being to serve as a catalyst bringing individuals and teams together with a "results focus" to achieve strategic business performance objectives.  Steve resides in Cedar Rapids with his wife of 39 years, Linda.
